At the beginning of this year, we want to tell you about TiL and what makes it a unique brand. Created according to the rules of art, 100% custom-made, valuing Nature thanks to 21st century science, biotechnology and neuroscience. Four years of work to give birth to this innovative start-up, worked with passion like the greatest brands.
The two founding sisters came from large groups and luxury houses, one in cosmetics, the other in perfume, with the love of well-done work, high standards, and where exclusivity and innovation were paramount values.
Between us, 40 years of expertise and a large ecosystem of great professionals around us…
Above all, a tree imposed itself on us, without us ever having the will to to launch a brand. At a time when sobriety is a golden rule, we didn’t want yet another brand and it was an alignment of the personal and professional planets that triggered everything, with a real discovery like few others: the incredible powers of the Linden tree on the skin.
We knew them, as you do, on the mind, a very recognized tranquilizer since the dawn of time, and on the body, a renowned detoxifier and soother that makes it a medicinal tree registered in the pharmacopoeia.
But the skin??? We didn’t know anything about it, we had just been alerted by grandmother’s recipes found here and there, which used linden for different skin care.
Because you know, no need to go to the other side of the world to look for an exotic ingredient, with a complicated and unknown name, the treasures can be under our eyes! This is the case of these linden trees under which we grew up, venerable wild behemoths that are 2 centuries old for some, and have never seen the hand of man nor the shadow of a treatment.
They surround our 17th century family home in Dordogne, in the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin, and watch over it as they do over us.
Around us, nature at 360°, in this sublime region, which wrote many pages of French history, and of which so many dazzling vestiges remain.
Our linden trees have guided everything, from beginning to end. They prompted a long R&D process and, given the incredible results, the development of the TiL line.
A holistic tree per excellence, the linden tree has given birth for the first time in the world to a holistic brand that declines its powers on the skin, the body and the mind, in cosmetics, food supplements and perfume.
Our obsession was to reconcile the quintessence of naturalness with the effectiveness of objectified active ingredients (i.e. measured and proven by science), and a great sensoriality, because for us, there is no effective care without pleasure.
We had our own linden trees harvested by the French leader in plant biotechnology, Greentech. Two different species of linden trees, at two different stages of maturity, and four parts of the tree: buds and branches in March, flowers and leaves in July. Nature teaches patience…
Months of chemical and bio-chemical analysis to make their molecular cartography, a great first.
One day, a call from the President of Greentech. The news? Our linden trees are full of antioxidant, moisturizing and soothing molecules, which constitute a formidable and complete anti-aging agent!
So … an incredibly beneficial tree for the skin, the body, the mind, that smells divine, that grows in our home, and it’s our business … what do you think we did? We launched ourselves, setting the bar high (sometimes too high!!).
Three years to develop an active ingredient combining the best of each part of the linden tree, and the formulas that contain it, at an optimal (and not infinitesimal) concentration. Dozens and dozens of laboratory tests, for each product (because we started from a blank page), before arriving at the formulas of our dreams.
Then the battery of effectiveness tests carried out on the active ingredient itself (which shows a considerable reduction in oxidation and inflammation, major factors in accelerated aging), then on the products with clinical tests, dermatological tests, etc.
All this under the leadership of a great man of the cosmetics industry, the former head of Clarins R&D for 35 years!
On the sensorial side? A Master of perfumery, Francis Kurkdjian, who has created the world’s greatest successes, has his own perfume house within LVMH and is now in charge of all Dior perfumery.
He honors us by falling in love with our history and composes the divine eau de toilette TiL, L’Eau Qui Enlace, which is so aptly named, a stroll under an avenue of blooming linden trees on an early June morning. He pushes perfection to the point of adapting TiL’s olfactory note to the galenics of each cosmetic in the range. Usually, the same olfactory concentrate is used for all products… but the fragrance does not come out at all the same way depending on whether the texture is oily, watery, with surfactants, etc. It is necessary to make lace!
We don’t stop there… seeing the happy smiles after smelling this delicious perfume, we launch a study with neuroscientists to measure its emotional impact.
We guessed, so caressing it was, that it would be loved, but the results are beyond our hopes, three words stand out: joy, relaxation and comfort… The three emotions we probably all need the most, in these troubled times.
So, every year, we pick buds, twigs, flowers and leaves in our domain, at the best time (for buds and flowers, it’s within 2 days!). These harvests are carried out by a former member of the Office National des Forêts, with shamanic training, and his team, who pick our trees by hand, with respect and gratitude, after having established a harvesting plan over 5 years.
And here, we do not dry the plant material as is usually done when buying plant extracts from suppliers. Because by drying, the plant loses a good part of its active molecules and thus their effectiveness. We use our fresh linden tree parts. It is more complicated, because we have to freeze them on the spot in the hour following the picking, then to make them take away by a refrigerated truck to proceed to the cryo-extraction of the molecules. But in this way, we find all the molecules in their total integrity, and we recreate the original activity of the tree! This is one of the secrets of TiL’s effectiveness.
Everything is then produced in France, in Dordogne itself, with French active ingredients, French or European packaging, eco-responsible because of glass and bakelite. It’s more expensive, but no compromise on that.
This is TiL’s adventure, and this is why it is unique.
This tree, which has always been everywhere, and which we no longer even look at, is an extraordinary treewith incomparable benefits. The ones we are passing on today, enhanced by science, to do you good, soothe you, regenerate you, and revive beauty and well-being.
Four long years of hard work and high standards, added to our expertise and our fabulous trees, a family history and passion for our land … This is what you will find in your jars and bottles.

A market full of products, where it can be difficult to find one’s way around and make a difference.
France is unbeatable in cosmetics (2nd largest export sector!), with products subject to European legislation, the most restrictive in the world.
As in all markets, there are products of very high quality and others of lower value, launched at lightning speed.
How is this possible? It is enough to take existing formulas from a lab, possibly customizing them with active ingredients sourced from suppliers of active ingredients who supply the brands. Even faster, you can opt for turnkey products supplied in “white label” by manufacturers, i.e. already existing formulas, with standard ingredients generally at a minimum concentration. All that remains is to put your logo on them.
One can thus launch a brand in less than a year, very quickly, by assembling existing elements like an Ikea piece of furniture.
It’s a choice, but we have made other choices at TiL, and we hope you will appreciate them!
